Replication Versus Duplication

Quality - A major difference in the two formats is the PRINT QUALITY.

Replication offers silk-screen printing standard. Silk-screen printing is in essence painting directly on the CD or DVD at approximately 72 Lines Per Inch (LPI) resolution. This method is great for Vector art, Line art or Text but can look pixilated with photographs.

Duplication offers a 600 Dot Per Inch resolution from a Digital Photo quality laser Label. This Label is perfect for fine resolution images, detailed graphics and special alphanumeric projects. We also use a special coating to ensure that our printing method not only unique but also the best print in the industry!

TURN TIME - The Second major difference is the Turnaround time for your project.

Replication or Manufacturing is he process of stamping out a CD or DVD directly from plastic pellets. A glass master is created from you master CD-R, DVD-R or DLT tape to replicate every CD or DVD identically. Generally this process takes about 7-14 business days to complete.

Duplication is the process of burning a CD-R or DVD-R just like you can do at home. Our skilled staff using large banks of automated, industrial CD recording units completes the burning process by manually verifying that every CD-R and or DVD-R works and is correct. This usually takes 3 business days.but if you need it sooner we can complete 10000 units in less than a day!

Price

A quick way to look at it is replication is generally less expensive from about the 2000 unit level for CD's. If you are doing a short run it is much more cost effective to Duplicate than replicate. Generally there is a minimum of 300 units for Replication but you are almost paying for 1000 units, where as with duplication you can do 10 units and not be into the big dollars for Replication.
